Joanna Porackova welcomes artists to her voice studio.

PHILOSOPHY AND GOALS

Each person has their own unique sound, life experience, and presence.

My goal as a voice teacher is to provide a safe environment to respect the individual qualities of each artist and to promote their growth and development as an artist.  The core of my teaching centers around the promotion of proper breathing and body preparation for singing utilizing the Lamperti method of Bel Canto Style.  I encourage the use of this healthy preparation to accomplish stylistically the intention of the composer in vocal music.  I also believe in supporting a student's identified individual goals as an artist.

BACKGROUND EDUCATION

Since she was also a registered nurse with a BS and MS in Nursing, she has a background in understanding the healthy body and voice. She taught Nursing at Indiana University, Boston University, and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.

In the following paragraphs, Ms. Porackova would like to acknowledge teachers and vocal coaches who have guided her in her career by honoring them and showing gratitude to them for their unique contributions. She studied extensively for over 20 years with the master teacher Michael Trimble whose approach embodies the promotion of using breath in an efficient and healthy way based on the past master teachers of the Bel Canto Style, and encourages (through demonstration) the use of yoga postures to develop chi centered body preparation.  She is grateful to Maestro Trimble for his support and knowledge and his teaching continues to be a part of her artistic endeavors.

Ms Porackova attended the Indiana University School of Music and was selected as a member of their elite Madrigal and A Capella choir., which performed at the Metropolitan Opera and Alice Tully Hall, NY. She also completed studies in the New England Conservatory Opera Extension workshop, a Fellow in the Opera Music Theater International directed by the legendary bass Jerome Hines, and the New York-Jerusalem Vocal Institute.  Ms Porackova recognizes that each experience has helped her in her artistic development. She also appreciated her limited vocal study with the late Jean Deis, Indiana University, the late Iride Pilla, Boston Conservatory, the late Phyllis Curtain, the late Edward Zambara, Bill Schuman, and Lin Wallin Schuller, McCloskey Institute of Voice. She has worked extensively on stylistic approaches to the Bel Canto Repertoire with Bradley Pennington, Founder and Director of The Boston Bel Canto Opera. She has coached the Wagnerian repertoire in the USA with Jeffrey Brody, Artistic Consultant for the Boston Wagner Society and in Germany with Rainer Armbrust. She has also worked with these distinguished vocal coaches: William Vendice, Joan Dornemann, William Merrill, Henrik Nanasi, Thomas Bo, and Stephen Steiner. She presently studies with Sharon Daniels, Former Director of the Opera Institute and Opera Programs at Boston University.

She was an invited soloist in the Master Classes of Ely Ameling, Franco Corelli, Giulietta Simionata, Jerome Hines, Ariggo Pola, and the Metropolitan Opera Master Classes directed by Joan Dornemann at the Julliard School in New York.
